Lena Dunham’s Vogue Cover Sparks Photoshop Controversy (UPDATE)

Update (January 17, 2014):

It seems like since the very moment Lena’s Vogue cover hit the interwebz people have been talking about it. And not all of it has been flattering. Women’s interest website Jezebel offered $10,000 for untouched photos of Lena, a pitch the HBO show creator doesn’t seem exactly onboard with.

"Some s--t is just too ridiculous to engage. Let’s use our energy wisely, 2014," Lena tweeted January 16. She doesn’t call out Jezebel or the controversy stirred up by the Vogue photoshoot but does seem frustrated by the world at large, which is understandable given the current situation.

As for that $10,000 incentive presented by Jezebel: It worked. Several untouched photos are now available on their site.

Original story (January 15, 2014):

Girls got a makeover for the February 2014 issue of Vogue. Show creator Lena Dunham graces the cover of the Fashion Bible and Hannah Horvath would hardly recognize her!

Wearing a red-and-white polka dot button-up and the most eye makeup we’ve ever seen her in, Lena looks totally gorgeous. It’s definitely a style upgrade for a star who frequently makes the worst-dressed list. Most recently Lena got heat for the brightly hued outfit she wore top the 2014 Golden Globes. We wonder what Vogue editor Anna Wintour would make of that startlingly yellow Zac Posen number

The cover, shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, captures the 27-year-old wunderkind in a frazzled looking moment as she yanks on her collar and holds her hand to her head. Maybe she’s stressing over the lofty title bestowed by Vogue; “The New Queen of Comedy” reads the line to Lena’s left.

Inside, things get more playful with Lena sitting atop the shoulders of her Girls co-star Adam Driver as the two make their way across a New York City street. She’s got on bright yellow (favorite color perhaps?) shoes with feathers sticking out. Also making an appearance in the pic is Lena’s famous four-footed companion Lamby.

Do you like the cover? Totally digging Lena’s choice in feathered footwear? Tell us in the comments below.
