If you’re stressing about Lena Dunham saying she’d like to quit acting in her cover interview for Glamour, worry not — Lena promises she isn’t going anywhere.
In the interview, Lena said, “I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore. I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”
But don’t be misled: Despite her earlier comments, Lena’s not planning on leaving the profession to write full-time. When E! Online caught up with her at the Girls panel at the Television Academy and asked her if she was ready to throw in the towel as an actress, she responded with a simple yet definite, “No!”
Her co-star, Allison Williams, was more vocal about Lena’s supposed resignation. “I’m of two minds about this,” Allison said. “Number one, she’s so phenomenally talented as an actress — and I can say that first hand — that it would be sad if she stopped. That said, part two is that if she’s going to be writing roles for women I would like to be the first in line because she writes such good stuff for women and men.”
True that, Allison. We would love to see some of our favorite female celebs give life to roles created by Lena — could you imagine if Lena paired up with Tina Fey? Perfection.
“She’s just a phenomenal writer,” Allison added. “So I know she’ll do whatever she feels like doing. I just hope she doesn’t stop acting because she’s so good.
Girls Jemima Kirke also had something to say about the matter. “Didn’t Jay Z say he was going to stop wrapping awhile ago?” she said.
