His mom taught him sex ed in high school! Awkward! When asked what it was like having his mom as his sex education teacher, he told Jay Leno, “Exactly what you think it’s like!” He continued, “It was interesting until she started talking about her own personal experiences, and that’s when I just head out the door!”
He closed the conversation topic with this piece of wisdom, “No child should have to be taught sex education by their mum.”
He has another brother you probably didn’t know about. His oldest brother, Luke, was the first to get into acting on Australian TV. Luke actually inspired younger brothers Liam and Chris to get into acting themselves!
He used to live with Chris, before Chris played Thor. He told Jimmy Kimmel, “Yeah, we were sleeping together in the same bed at the same time, I think. Just holding each other, nurturing each other.” When asked if he misses living with Chris, Liam said, “I miss the smell of him next to me in my bed.”
Speaking of whom, Liam once threw a knife at him! Liam told Conan that he and Chris used to get into it all the time. The fighting youngsters once even broke their mom’s finger when she was trying to break up them up!
Liam described the knife incident casually to Conan, saying, “I threw it at his head when I was about 8, and the handle hit him in the head … It was like a warning — if you mess with me, I’ll throw a knife at your head!”
And About Thor…
You know that huge Thor role that Liam’s bro Chris scored? Well, Liam was also up for the part! No hard feelings, we’re sure...
He’s had encounters with sharks. Liam has been surfing since he was about 5 or 6 years old. He’s an avid surfer and has definitely had his share of run-ins with sharks. Of his multiple encounters, he’s said, “I’m still here. and I’ve got all my limbs, so it hasn’t been too bad yet!”
He’s a small-town island boy. He grew up in a working-class family on tiny Phillip Island, which is about a two-hour trip from Melbourne. To give you an idea of the size of his hometown, Liam told Jay Leno, “When I lived there, there were about 7,000 people who lived there.”
He’s never changed a diaper! He’s got four nieces, but he hasn’t had the pleasure of changing a diaper… yet. Liam loves kids and plans to have them “way in the future.”
He has an obsession with squirrels. Little-known fact: They don’t have squirrels in Australia! Liam had never seen one IRL, and when he first saw one in America (on the Disney lot), he was fascinated. He revealed to Conan, “I have an obsession with squirrels! [...] I don’t trust ‘em, to be honest!”
He worked the odd job (or four) before becoming famous. He revealed to Vanity Fair that he’s worked at a bakery, a bowling alley, and done manual labor — plumbing, construction, and electrical jobs — for his friends’ dads. He also put in time at a nature park as a park ranger for a penguin exhibit.
He uses pretend names like “Chris” and “Luke” to make it easier on us. Of his Irish name, Liam told Jay Leno, “Americans have a problem with hearing ‘Liam,’ I guess.” He continued, “Is my name ‘Lamb’? It’s not. It’s Liam.”
Miley Cyrus Sorry, y’all. We had to put this one on this list because we know we aren’t the only ones who thought this was an odd pairing. Plus, Miley and Liam should’ve known that relationships that start on Nicholas Sparks movies are doomed —- remember Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams?!
