One Direction Star Criticized for Duck Dynasty Tweet — Slams Haters as “Bastards”

Everyone else in the room can see that a certain One Direction member is stirring up a lot of controversy with his tweets about Duck Dynasty.

1D star Liam Payne took to Twitter on January 18 to share that he's a fan of the Robertsons, who are featured on the hit A&E show. "@williebosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold," Liam tweeted at cast member Willie Robertson. "Big fan."

So is Liam just saying that he likes watching the family's wacky hijinks, or is he backing up the family after the controversy over patriarch Phil Robertson's controversial comments about gay people last month? Many people apparently are assuming the latter, given that Liam mentions "family values."

However, Liam clearly bristled at any criticism of his tweet, as he then launched a Twitter tirade. "Being a fan of someone's show and the way they still hold a family together doesn't mean I am ok with all they say," Liam writes.

When his Duck Dynasty tweet then started getting covered in the media, Liam really flipped out. "Oh my god can someone literally not be a fan of a show without bring labeled," he writes. "WTf I bought dinner the other day it made a news story."

"What I gotta do to please you bastards," Liam continues, apparently targeting journalists who have covered this story. "I'm a 20 year old just living life as you did when u were twenty but in extraordinary circumstances."

Liam posted many, many more tweets railing against his critics. But this one might be the most colorful: "Pick ur balls up off the floor and get on with it instead of taking advantage of every word said and twisting it for your own gain," he tweets. We just hope someone washes the floor that Liam is referring to.

Do you think Liam went too far with his tweets? Or is he right to be upset?
