Lilly Ghalichi Admits: My Birthday Party Was Over the Top — Exclusive

Last season on the Shahs of Sunset, it was GG Gharachedaghi’s hot (and sometimes violent) temper that rendered her the outcast of the group. This season, however, alliances have shifted and it appears a new punching bag has been chosen: Lilly Ghalichi a.k.a. the “Persian Barbie.”

It all started at the 30th birthday celebration Lilly threw for herself in Season 3’s premiere episode. Sure, it was excessive, but rather than bask in the extravagance, the cast picked her apart for it. GG and Asa mocked the affair by saying it resembled a wedding more than a birthday party, Reza Farahan made fun of the other guests and, in a statement to Wetpaint Entertainment, MJ Javid bashed it as a shameless “parade of self-promotion.”

But now Lilly’s fighting back. In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, she defends her party – and explains why she’s unapologetic.

Wetpaint Entertainment: So the biggest criticism of your party seems to be that it was over the top.

Lilly: I agree, it was over the top! It definitely wasn’t your typical birthday party. But you know what? I was turning 30 and I wasn’t excited about it at all. I was emotional because I had always pictured that my life at 30 would be so different. Rather than dwell on it, though, I decided to have fun and throw the silliest, most over the top celebration possible.

Safe to say, you usually celebrate milestones on a smaller scale?

I never celebrate at all! I’ve never had a birthday party for myself. And I didn’t do anything when I graduated college or law school. So I figured that this party, this would be an all-in-one.

How did it feel to watch the episode and see the rest of the cast making fun of it then?

You know, all I can say is that I had a really good time.

So no regrets?

None. I had an amazing night. All of my friends and family had the most amazing night. People telling me for weeks how much fun they had. I had people come from all over country. It was really special to me.
