Lily Allen Goes Retro For “L8 CMMR” Arcade Lyric Video — Press Start!

Lily Allen is one of the baddest gals in the music biz, and we’ve got astronomical expectations for this Brit — but she may have just outdone herself with her new lyrical music video for “L8 CMMR.” If you’re a fan of retro video games and catchy pop music, this video is right up your alley.

Once the game is started, a little avatar that looks like the 28-year-old singer goes through various games — including tennis, driving, a Mario-like game, and one set in outer space — while she sings about her man. Clearly, this is a two-player game. Lily, a mother of two, married Sam Cooper back in 2011 and they’ve been going strong ever since. True love is definitely what inspired this imaginative video.

The avatar is put through the ringer, running around collecting wine bottles, cigarettes, and diamond rings in one setting while blasting asteroids in another, all while lauding the love of her life. “And when I see his face, I feel like I can win the race” and “Can’t put this thing into words, my love for him’s absurd” are just a few of the lovesick lyrics from the song. Cute, right?

Apparently, Lena Dunham thought so, because “L8 CMMR” is featured on the second volume of the Girls soundtrack. We can totally see this catchy tune playing during a great moment between Hannah and Adam — especially when Lily sings “My man is a bad motherf—ker.”
