Looks like Lily Rabe might not be able to join American Horror Story Season 4 — she was just cast in a spooky, new alien drama potentially coming to ABC, as TVLine reports.
The pilot, called The Visitors, follows the "race against the clock to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world using our most precious resource against us."
It's produced by Amblin TV, Steven Spielberg's production company — though it sounds like feeling the galactic interlopers in The Visitors veer more toward the mean ones in War of the Worlds than the cuddly one in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
As the site elaborates, Lily will play Claire Bennigan, an FBI agent and child specialist who — while investigating a widespread trend of children bonding with same imaginary friend — realizes her son is under the enemy's control.
Lily has played three memorable characters across the three American Horror Story seasons so far — the abortion-conducting wife of a mad scientist in Murder House, the demonic second-in-command nun in Asylum, and the swamp-dwelling witch Misty Day in Coven.
And on the big screen, the 31-year-old actress is set to make her debut as Commander Lyme in the two-part Hunger Games finale, Mockingjay.
We'll miss her on AHS, but we know she'll do a great job on The Visitors — she knows a little somethin' somethin' about horror, after all!
