Lindsay Lohan Deletes Her Instagram Posts & Raises Questions About Religion
Lindsay Lohan is a changed woman in 2017.
The actress deleted all of her Instagram posts last week and wrote “Alaikum salam” (peace be upon you) in her bio, leading people to believe she had converted to Islam.
While many Muslims were supportive of the Parent Trap star and welcomed her into their religion, it doesn’t sound like her purging had anything to do with faith.
In fact, the 30-year-old’s decision to remove herself from social media was more about letting go of the past and moving forward into the new year.
"It was symbolic to me of letting the past go and moving on to the future, which was very therapeutic for me. It's been a long time coming,” she said of the purge to OK! Online.
The star celebrated a landmark birthday last year and began to realize the importance of giving back, which shifted her focus onto more important things, like charitable work.
"There was not an exact moment,” she continued.
“However, there comes a time in one's life where you stop and reflect on all of the experiences you have had, for me it happened when I turned 30 and realized there is more in giving back in life.”
The Mean Girls star — who has battled drug and alcohol addictions — also voiced fears about the ever-increasing influence of social media on society.
"It has benefits such as connecting you to loved ones and old friends, and then it has negatives of possibly being too connected to everyone.”
Wise words from LiLo. We’re happy to see her doing so well!
