Lindsay Lohan Really Wants to Play the Little Mermaid in Disney’s Live Action Remake
Disney has been attracting some big names to star in their live action remakes of animated classics lately. Emma Watson is Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Donald Glover has just signed on to play Simba in The Lion King, and next is... Lindsay Lohan in The Little Mermaid?
If you squint, the idea kind of makes sense, at least on the surface. Lindsay has red hair, she's an actress, and she was at one time a big Disney star.
But that was a long time ago. Would Disney really take a chance on the troubled 30-year-old today?
On Sunday, February 19, Lindsay posted a picture on Instagram of herself side-by-side with Ariel and wrote, "I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid."
She went on to tag Disney in the post and suggest The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon to helm the film, her younger sister Ali Lohan to handle the soundtrack, and CrossFit athlete Kristen Graham to play Ursula.
But is this a confirmation that she's been offered the role, or is this all just wishful thinking on Lindsay's part?
The Parent Trap star later altered her post, removing all text other than "#thelittlemermaid," which indicates that she has not been offered any role — which isn't too surprising.
The movie is in very early development, hasn't begun casting, and has no release date. The only thing known about it is that Lin Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken are handling the music.
What do you think? Does Lindsay, who also recently claimed she could solve the Syrian refugee crisis, have any chance of playing Ariel, or is she totally off her rocker?
