Don’t talk bad about Lindsay Lohan’s mom. That’s what we learned upon hearing LiLo gave Fox News a strongly worded talking to after a commentator claimed the 27-year-old actress is “doing cocaine” with mom Dina.
After learning about the Fox News Channel segment “Great American Panel” as hosted by Sean Hannity, Lindsay’s lawyer Mark Heller sent the channel a scathing letter on Lindsay’s behalf.
TMZ has the February 18 note, which includes zingers like “the outrageously slanderous and defamatory statement” made by Fox News Channel’s guest Michelle Fields is not only false, it’s “reprehensible, egregious, and hurtful.”
What makes Michelle’s comment that “Lindsay Lohan’s mom is doing cocaine with her” all the worse, says LiLo’s attorney, is that the show’s theme for the evening was stars who have died of drug overdoses. The show “grimly cited a parade of dead celebrities” including Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse, and, most recently, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The show “maliciously foreshadow[s]” that Lindsay would soon be joining this list and that, writes Mark, cannot be excused. In fact, such “irresponsible, thoughtless, and insensitive media regurgitation no doubt contributes to the emotional weakening of these victims that pushes them further into the dark tunnel from which there is no return.” So put that in your pipe and smoke it. Well, maybe not, since we’re talking crack.
To fix this supposed wrong, Lindsay and lawyer “demand” Fox issue an apology and retraction both on air and in print. Fox should also “immediately remove” the blog post and video related to said program and “not repeat the false and defamatory statement in any future broadcasts or publications.”
As of publishing, the video appears to have been removed from on Fox News though there’s no sign of that apology Lindsay wants. At least not yet.
