During their careers (so far), Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan have been part of a lot of awesome and memorable movies, but no film roles were ever so iconic for them as when they shared the screen in Mean Girls as Regina and Cady. Ten years after the movie was originally released in 2004, we still can’t get enough — or stop quoting their characters, either.
And while Rachel and her The Notebook co-star (and former longtime boyfriend), Ryan Gosling, didn’t exactly get along too well at first, it wasn’t the case on the Mean Girls set. In fact, Rachel felt nothing but admiration for Lindsay.
“If anything, I was in awe of her talent,” Rachel told Allure when she covered the mag’s August 2014 issue. “I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural.”
And after hearing that Lindsay was reportedly intimidated by her during the time they spent together while they worked on the movie? She’s even more in awe.
“It’s just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking,” Rachel said. “We all try to act like we’ve got it together.”
Preach, girl. That statement not only holds up in the acting world, but in the rest of the world, too. Fortunately, though, whether Rachel actually “has it together” or not doesn’t seem to matter much when you continue the incredible career she’s managed to pull off by the time she turned 35 — and she shows no signs of slowing down.
“I’m hoping it’s going to be complicated and have lots of dead ends and corners and sharp turns,” Rachel said of her career. “I hope it can’t be summed up too easily when I’m done.”
