Sad news this morning for fans of the original 1930s Little Rascals films, Our Gang: Jackie Lynn Taylor, who played one of the rascals, has died at 88 years old in Sacramento, California according to People.
Jackie Lynn passed away Monday after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, with her husband, Jack Fries, nearby.
Jackie’s career as an actress began in 1925 when she won a child beauty pageant in Long Beach. From there, she went on to play the female lead in five Our Gang movies and took on the role of Jane in a film called Hi-Neighbor. Jane’s love of being on camera eventually evolved into a career as a TV news anchor. In the 1970s, Jane and Jack moved to Missouri to become ministers, and before she died, they ministered to retirement communities in Sacramento.
“I think that being a member of the Rascals has kept me young,” Jackie told the Sacramento Bee in 2000.
A private service has been planned by her husband to remember Jackie, who will certainly be missed.
“She was magnetic when she got in front of an audience,” Jack said. “She liked to contribute and talk to people and help them feel good. She was a giver.”
