The Voice Elimination: Who Went Home and Who Was Saved, November 26
It’s getting down to the wire, Voice fans! Tonight our Top 8 became our Top 6 as two artists were sent home.
First we were treated to a live performance by Ellie Goulding, backed by Will Champlin, Matthew Schuler, and James Wolpert. Then each of the coaches shared their feels before Carson Daly started delivering the good news. The first artist to be saved by votes and iTunes downloads was Will from Team Adam Levine. No surprise there! He dominated last night, earning the #6 spot on iTunes. (Artists who break into the top 10 get a 5x multiplier on their votes.)
Carson delivered the next round of news after the obligatory group performance of a classic spiritual, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" with the Starbucks Chorus (this is a thing, apparently). Team Blake's Cole Vosbury and his glorious beard will also be returning next week! Yay!
Cee Lo Green reunited with his Goodie Mob pal Big Gipp for a super weird performance and the artists and coaches shared some confessions, which mostly consisted of everybody making fun of each other. This is basically the meanest this show has ever been. The next artist saved was Jacquie Lee from Team Christina.
The Top 8 performed for the last time together with OneRepublic, and then Carson announced the final two safe artists: Team Adam's Tessanne Chin and James Wolpert. Adam still has three artists on his team.
As we correctly predicted, former frontrunner Matthew Schuler from Team Christina dropped to the bottom three along with Team Cee Lo's Caroline Pennell and Team Blake's Ray Boudreaux. Fans on Twitter voted to save Matthew, and Caroline and Ray were sent home. That means Cee Lo no longer has a horse in this race and Blake is down to a team of one with Cole.
Silver lining? We learned tonight that Caroline received her first college acceptance letter! Sure, it's not a record contract, but we're sure she'll land on her feet.
