Pretty Little Liars Logic Fails: Season 4, Episode 19, “Shadow Play”

Pretty Little Liars has never exactly tried for realism. Between the omnipotent "A", the teens running around trying to solve a murder mystery, and Ali's faked death, there's a lot that would probably play out differently in the real world, and that's part of the fun of the show.

Even with that in mind, there are occasionally moments that make us stop and say, "Really?" Sometimes it's something that doesn't make sense from the writers, and (more often) it's just that we want to reach through our TVs and smack the characters upside the head for making bad choices.

Because most of Season 4, Episode 19 (“Shadow Play”) took place in Spencer's mind, logic wasn't exactly a big factor this week. But here are a couple of real-world moments that still made us raise an eyebrow.

1. Spencer's whole hallucination. We really enjoyed the film noir theme of this episode, but it has to be said: we're pretty sure that ADHD meds don't cause hour-long hallucinations.

2. The book trick. Changing a few words and then giving the diary back to the Liars was pretty clever — except for the fact that Spencer already had pictures of the pages. If Ezra really has been tracking the Liars for as long as it seems, shouldn't he have realized that was a possibility? Again, an example of him being sloppy...
