Pretty Little Liars Logic Fails: Season 5, Episode 4 — “Thrown From the Ride”

Part of the appeal of Pretty Little Liars is that Rosewood is far from an ordinary town. We expect murder and mayhem around every corner. However, even in the heightened world of Rosewood, there are some things that make us stop and say Hold on a second...

Sometimes it's something in the writing that doesn't make sense, and (more often) it's that we want to reach through our TVs and smack the characters upside the head for making bad choices. During Season 5, Episode 4 (“Thrown From the Ride”), all of the things that made us scratch our head had to do with Shana (Aeriel Miranda).

How does no one in town know? Clearly, Shana's body has been found and identified, and yet Mona (Janel Parrish) implied that people think she just went back to Georgia. How has no one mentioned that she's dead? Her family didn't, say, alert the school? There wasn't some sort of announcement? Did she really have no other friends or friendly acquaintances who might have reached out to her?

And what about the cops? Yet another Rosewood girl dies — one who had a connection to the Liars and Ali — and the cops haven't started asking questions? Really?

Her funeral was posted online? Is that a thing people really do? Just wondering.
