Logic Fails in Glee Season 5, Episode 2: “Tina in the Sky With Diamonds”

We love Glee — the songs, the energy, all the great romance — but we will be the first to admit that this show doesn’t always have the strongest grasp on reality. And why should it have to? When a show is stylized, and over-the-top by design, the tiniest details and facts don’t always have to add up.

Still, it’s fun to look back on each Glee episode and pick out those instances where things just didn’t add up. So without further ado, here are your top logic fails of Season 5, Episode 2: “Tina in the Sky With Diamonds.”

McKinley High’s Sweetheart, Kitty Wilde.

Breaking news, guys. Kitty (Becca Tobin) is nice now! No seriously, she is. This isn’t some conniving Cheerios scheme; she’s not faking friendship in order to steal Marley’s (Melissa Benoist) role in the school play. Kitty is now genuinely concerned about Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Unique (Alex Newell), and all her fellow glee clubbers, and she’s more than willing to toss away the chance at eternal Prom Queen popularity if it means helping them out.

This softer, sweeter side of Kitty is great and all, but real talk: It came out of nowhere. After spending all of Glee Season 4 as a heartless be-yotch, McKinley’s resident Queen of Mean just became a total sweetheart. Um... okay.

Tina’s magical Prom Queen transformation.

Tina was voted Prom Queen. Tina got covered in slushie. Her hair was totally ruined... and then it wasn’t. We loved seeing the glee club gather around Tina after her humiliating Carrie-style prom tragedy. Tina’s dress may have been ruined, but Kitty gave up hers so that Tina could still have her moment in the spotlight, and look flawless while doing it.

But need we remind you that Tina’s hair was full of matted goo? Yet when she took the stage at the end of prom to make her speech, those long locks were perfectly clean. Look, we know a thing or two about long hair. You cannot wash hair like Tina’s without needing serious time for it to dry. There’s no way she had time to take a shower, and no way the glee club just combed the slushie out of it, either.

Rachel gets the part on Broadway!

What Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) wants, Rachel Berry gets. She wants to be a Broadway star? Sure. What the heck. Forget that Rachel is an unknown, plucked out of obscurity her freshman year of college, and with no professional acting experience to her name. Glee says she’s starring in a Broadway show, then she’s starring in a Broadway show.

Remember that time Rachel got her NYADA rejection completely reversed, simply because the dean of her school happened to like her Nationals performance? Or the time she won NYADA’s Winter showcase... when only one other freshman had done so before? Let’s be real. The rules of fairness don’t always apply to Rachel Berry. But she’s a star... so we guess, why should they?

Where’s Robin?

Uh... does anybody else remember back with Sue (Jane Lynch) gave birth to a baby daughter? Because apparently Glee doesn’t. Baby Robin used to show up all the time in her mom’s office. So far in Season 5, we haven’t seen her once. We’re not asking that she become a main character, but we’d at least like to hear Sue mention her once in a while. Or have her baby carrier sitting in Sue’s office while she talks? Because Baby Robin is sort of awesome... and we don’t want her to just up and vanish like Matt (Dijon Talton) did back in Season 1.

Matt the football player. You remember him, right? Exactly.
