Lorde to Curate the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Soundtrack — Including a Song of Her Own! (VIDEO)
Love Lorde? Love The Hunger Games? Get ready: Two of our favorite things are about to become one.
According to a press release (via The Wall Street Journal), Lorde has officially volunteered as tribute — to the Mockingjay soundtrack, that is. Not only has she signed on to provide the first single for the movie, but she’s also going to be curating the entire album as well.
What does that mean, exactly? Lorde will be putting together the songs that make the cut for the soundtrack, whether that means asking artists to write and perform songs for the movie (like Taylor Swift did with “Safe and Sound”) or assembling already existing songs that are perfect for the film’s themes.
“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” the 17-year-old Grammy winner said. “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
It’s all becoming a little more clear as to why Lorde has Jennifer Lawrence’s butt-themed e-mail address. Maybe she e-mails her for music opinions? Or maybe they’re just exchanging inappropriate GIFs and fart jokes. Either one is acceptable.
We’re super excited to see Mockingjay, but now we’re pumped for the soundtrack, too. Can’t wait to see what Lorde comes up with!
