Love & Hip Hop is returning for a brand-spankin’ new season on October 28, and we just can’t wait to see the cast of New York get back in the swing of things. Harlem-born Yandy Smith is quite possibly one of the most loved and talked about personalities on the show thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit and controversial love life. Here are five things you should know about Yandy.

1.  Yandy is a business powerhouse.

Do not let Yandy’s appearance on Love & Hip Hop fool you — this woman is super talented when it comes to business. Starting off at Violator Management, she’s been listed as one of Billboard magazine’s “Top 30 Executives Under 30” and the woman does is it all. Not only does she have a jewelry and clothing line, she also owns a digital magazine, Everything Girls Love, and writes a blog on business practices for BlackEnterprise.com.

Currently, Yandy, along with LHH creator Mona Scott young, work with producer Missy Elliott at Mona’s Monami Entertainment company and she’s working on a new label!

2. Yandy produced a movie.

Among the dozens of things that Yandy has her hand in, this little lady has also executive produced a movie! Partnering with her good friend, producer Noel Calloway, Yandy took part in the movie Life, Love, Soul. The film starred Basketball Wives’ Tami Roman, TV and radio personality Egypt Sherrod, as well as TV and film stars Chad L. Coleman and Jamie Hector.

3. Yandy learned to be business savvy in college.

Yandy makes being a management mogul look like a breeze, but the business of it all didn’t come easy. Yandy revealed in an interview with NecoleBitchie that she learned to be savvy while paying her way through college.

“You know what, when I went to Howard, I got a scholarship the first two years. But my mother made me pay for the last two years. So that really taught me to be about my business. Yeah, being social was great and I did that too but I definitely learned quickly that I had to handle mine. And when school was over, I brought that same mindset to Violator Management. I knew I had to hurry up and find a job so I could pay back my student loans. So I came in on my business.”

4. Yandy is still engaged to her baby daddy, Mendeecees Harris.

After finally being able to find bliss in her relationship with baby daddy Mendeecees Harris, Yandy’s life was turned upside down. One moment, Yandy was getting engaged, and the next, Mendeecees was turning himself in to the courts for drug trafficking. Despite it all, Yandy says she will continue to love her guy, and is currently waiting things out in hopes that the two can get married and start life anew.

5. Yandy’s excited for K. Michelle to join the crew!

While K. Michelle may have already made an enemy out of LHH castmate Erica Mena, Yandy seems to be pretty cool about having the former Love & Hip Hop Atlanta songbird on board the New York cast.

“She’s a dope artist,” Yandy says of Kay-Kay and she even said that the singer is “fireworks.”

Yandy has a lot on her hands what with running a full-time business and taking care of her son, Omere, now that his father isn’t around to help, but this lady is always looking on the bright side of things.

Be sure to check out Yandy’s journey when Love & Hip Hop returns Monday, October 28 at 9 p.m. on VH1.
