On the Love & Hip Hop Season 3 finale, fans were given a bittersweet moment when the recently engaged Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris were faced with the reality that a wedding will be further in the future than expected after Mendeecees was indicted on drug and trafficking charges.
It was reported that Mendeecees, along with two other men (one being his brother), were accused of transporting $2.5 million worth of drugs throughout Rochester and New York City between the years of 2005 and 2012. Mendeecees officially turned himself in January 24, 2013, and according to Yandy, is facing upwards of 20 years in prison.
It was rumored back in May that Mendeecees was quietly sentenced to 15 years in prison, however, Hip Hop Wired reached out to his lawyer, Donald Thomson, who said that was completely false. Donald confirmed that Mendeecees hasn’t "been found guilty of anything yet, much less sentenced."
But despite there being a glimmer of hope for the reality celeb, things are still uncertain with him, as Yandy has admitted as recently as August that Mendeecees is still being held without so much as a bail hearing.
Of course Yandy is doing her best to push through the situation. In a recent interview with Vibe, she elaborated that the hardest part of it all for her is “him missing everything. He’s missing Omere’s birthday, he missed little Mendeecee’s birthday; even him seeing little steps that the kids are taking. But then also, I just miss my best friend.”
For now, there’s very little being released about Mendeecees’s case, but we’re pretty certain that we’ll find out more as Love & Hip Hop Season 4 continues to unfold.
