For weeks we’ve watched as Love & Hip Hop star Yandy Smith battled with having to run her own business and raise her 1-year-old son, Omere, without help from her fiancé, Mendeecees Harris, who had been in federal custody since January 2013 on drug trafficking charges. Last time we heard, Mendeecees was still awaiting a bail hearing, but as it turns, he just may be flying free. Well, in one shape or another…
According to Uptown magazine, there is a likelihood that Mendeecees’s case has been resolved and the details of the resolution have been sealed. Why is that? According to the magazine, no official court proceeding entries have been made as of November 2013. Both the Bureau of Prison and Mendeecees’s attorney report that he’s not in federal custody. But here’s the tricky part: No additional information or comments have been revealed.
The only other thing on file with regards to Mendeecees’s case is an order requiring his team to inform the court whether or not he wants to request a bail hearing (yes, the same bail hearing Yandy’s mentioned several times this season) by November 15.
If Mendeecees had gone through with the bail hearing, there would be progress in his trial, and likely news on whether or not Mendeecees was able to be released on bail or not. However, none of this appears on his record.
In December 2013, one of the other two men who was also arrested with Mendeecees pled guilty, implicated Mendeecees in the crime, and received a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment to be followed by 5 years of supervised release as well as seizure of assets connected with the investigation.
Quite honestly, we’re not sure what’s going on. And when you consider that Yandy hasn’t been singing to the roo tops that her man’s no longer in federal custody, we’re obviously under the impression that there’s a lot more going on than we see.
