Being on a reality TV show can only be good for your music career, right? Well, yes, if you’re not Kim Kardashian. But for established performers like Lil Scrappy of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, the extra time in the limelight can only help move records.
“It’s basically, it’s more love,” he tells VladTV. “Just being on a rapper scale is like, you know, only the people who listen to you are the only ones who are going to see you, you know what I’m saying? Those are the ones who are going to look for you.”
Add an entire reality TV show audience into the mix though and you’re seeing dollar signs. “Being on TV is different because they get to see you 24/7,” he says. “It’s like a commercial.”
And the extra exposure means extra crazy. Scrappy tells the camera how sometimes he’ll be out and about and people will just go off about the show and him. “The craziest thing a fan has ever done — and they do it all the time, which is irritating cause, you know, I don’t let anybody get close to me like that, let anybody touch me like that — they just feel like they know you and they come up to me and just slap my shoulder.”
If you can get past the really odd background with the cowhide chairs and faded wallpaper, the rest of Scrappy’s VladTV interview is worth a listen. Check it out below!
