Guess not all publicity is good publicity — at least for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Karlie Redd. The budding actress/musician has been known to score parts here and there due to her reality TV fame, but when it came to landing a role for a Tyler Perry film her brawling nature totally worked against her.

In a recent interview with DC radio station 93.9 WKYS, Karlie revealed her reality TV work has been both a blessing and a curse.

“I went for a role in a Tyler Perry film and he shot me down because I was on Love & Hip Hop,” Karlie told the radio host. When the host asked Karlie if she’s sure the performance was the reason she was turned down, she said it had everything to do with her involvement on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta because “they said that to me.”

Karlie discussed several other projects she has auditioned for that later turned her down because of her involvement on the show.

“There’s been roles I’ve auditioned for and they found out — like I’ve been on my way to set to work, got the role and everything, and they find out I’m on the show and they’re like ‘oh no’.” Tough break, Karlie.

But while Karlie said she understood the reality TV “drama” might turn certain filmmakers off, for her it’s still worth it.

“For me, it’s been a blessing because what I’ve been trying to do is let the work speak for itself, — the branding, whether it’s my hair line, my cosmetics line, my lingerie line,” she said, adding “I have a movie with Chris Rock coming out.”

Well guys, it looks like there’s a silver lining to Karlie’s drink throwing ways after all!
