Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Season 3 newbie Kalenna Harperknows a thing or two about music — after all, she was in Dirty-Diddy Money with Puff Daddy — and she’s not afraid to call out her co-stars when she thinks their music is subpar. Earlier this season, we saw Kalenna give her brutally honest opinion on a couple of best friend Rasheeda Frost’s tracks, and now she’s giving her thoughts on Joseline Hernandez’s music.
“I think Joseline is horrible. I think her music is absolutely horrible. If I was a music executive and she came into my office, she’d be eye candy but I’d have to do so much work just to make sure that she was on beat,” Kalenna candidly revealed to VH1.
On the other hand, that doesn’t mean that Kalenna doesn’t see Joseline’s potential. In fact, she went on to say that, “When I first saw Joseline, I was like, ‘Oh my god, she’s a star.’ She’s all the things that Miss Rihanna is. Now if she had Rihanna’s music she’d be outta here. She could go to Puerto Rico and kill ‘em.” However, she just doesn’t see Joseline’s Latin flare working well in the midst of hip hop artists — even with the help of her producer/manager/husband, Stevie J.
While Kalenna gives Stevie tons of credit as producer for turning Joseline into an artist, she thinks the former Bad Boy hitmaker may have bit off more than he can chew. “I think Joseline is a great carriage for reality TV and he knows that,” she said, adding that she doesn’t “see” Joseline as his next artist.
However, Kalenna’s not one to shrug off Stevie’s skills, and continued that she felt Stevie could definitely have another hit if she were involved. “If he and I were to get in the studio we would murder because I’m musical, ” she said, adding she’d “definitely” work with Stevie: “he’s still brilliant. We would kill.”
