Luann de Lesseps Accused of Making Up Divorce to Get Back on ‘RHONY’ — Report
UPDATE (8/5/17 at 3:55 p.m. ET) Since Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps announced her divorce from husband Tom D'Agostino this past Thursday, rumors have swirled that it was just a stunt to ensure her spot on the show's next season.
Now, a source who claims to be a close friend of Tom's asserts that the entire marriage was a way for the former Countess to make sure she had an interesting storyline for the show.
The source at Daily Mail claims that Luann has been unfaithful, and that it was Tom who filed for the divorce first.
"It has been really difficult for Tom because he did love her," says the source. "But she only married him because she was becoming irrelevant on the show and needed a new story line."
According to a new report, the announcement of her divorce from husband Tom D'Agostino comes just as Bravo executives are deciding who to invite back to the show.
The divorce drama would make Luann an enticing pick.
The Real Housewife announced via Twitter on Thursday that her seven-month marriage would come to a close.
"It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce," she wrote. "We care for each other very much."

The former countess wed her husband this past New Year's eve in Miami.
The much-anticipated ceremony came after Tom was caught kissing an ex-girlfriend at New York city's Regency Hotel, setting internet chatter about the couple ablaze.
The 52-year-old ultimately forgave her fiance's indescretion, telling People, "I'm not going to let a stupid kiss ruin the rest of my life. He screwed up. What he did was wrong. But this wasn't premeditated. It wasn't an affair. It was a mistake. He was upset with me."
Since the announcement on Thursday, rumors have predictably swirled about the reasons for the couple's split.
"He wanted to live his bachelor's life too," a source told E! News. "He's never been married. She wanted a marriage, he wanted a part-time marriage."
"Tom couldn't handle the reality TV lifestyle. He was waiting for the hamster wheel to stop after filming, but it did not," another source told Us Weekly.
Radar Online suggests instead that both the divorce and marriage were actually career-motivated.
"Each season Luann comes up with the best story line just at the right moment,” the source said. "Some think the whole wedding was a press stunt."
Regardless of what actually happened with her husband, Luann took to Twitter on Friday to thank fans for their support during a difficult moment.
"Thank you for the generous expression of warmth, kindness and understanding," she wrote.
