Lucy Hale is opening up about her new single in the preview video for “Kiss Me,” one of the songs off of her debut country album Road Between. The album is set to drop on June 3, but “Kiss Me” is one of four songs off of the album available for purchase on iTunes now. Why does the Pretty Little Liars star consider this song special? Let her tell you herself in the promo vid!

“Kiss me is almost one of those that should be a ballad, but it’s not, and that’s why it’s interesting,” Lucy says in the minute-long, behind-the-scenes video released by VEVO. “This is the first song I demo-ed, early on in the process, and I think this might have been the song where we were like, OK, that’s the direction we want to go in. You know, sound-wise, music-wise. It’s mature, but it still has youthfulness to it.”

“Kiss Me” is definitely catchy. With fun, flirty lyrics like, “Don't you know I want you with me

And it ain't just cause I'm tipsy,” the song tells the story of two people who have broken up, but who can’t seem to stay apart. Or, as Luce describes: “This song is sort of about, you know you break up with someone, you live in the same town or small town, wherever you live, and you keep running into this person. You think you’re over each other, but you’re not so finally you’re like, ‘Just come over here and kiss me.’ You both know that this isn’t over and you’re kind of like magnets.” When you put it that way, it should probably be Ezria’s theme song.

Lucy says this song holds a special place in her heart because she could really relate to it when she first recorded it: “This song is really special because I remember when I was demo-ing it, I was going through the actual experience, so it kind of made it a little fun to record.” Hmm. We wonder who the lucky guy in question was!
