Aria Montgomery may be all about keeping secrets, but country sweetheart Lucy Hale is letting it all out. If you thought Taylor Swift was the only country artist tapping into the minds of teen girls, think again. The Pretty Little Liars star is opening up about her insecurities on her latest single, “Nervous Girls,” and the result is the perfect heart-wrenching country ballad.

The slow-tempo track has Lucy being her own worst critic — something that all of us are guilty of at some point. She croons: "I'm that girl you think that's got it figured out, but I walk around with a head full of doubt / The cruelest words about me come from my own mouth, Yeah I'm that girl who wants what I ain't got, who looks in the mirror and sees all that I'm not.”

Sure, “You Sound Good to Me” was the perfect first single for Lucy. It’s fun, catchy, and a surefire song of the summer contender, but “Nervous Girls” better demonstrates the kind of country artist Lucy wants to be — earnest and relatable.

"I think 'Nervous Girls' is one that speaks directly to my heart and will hopefully speak to other girls,” she told SheKnows.com. “It's kind of uniting in a way and should almost bring comfort to other people, because ultimately all of our issues kind of root from the same emotion."

The PLL star spent the last two years perfecting her debut album, Road Between, and we’re only a few days away from its release! It’s scheduled to drop on June 3. If you can’t wait to take a listen, iTunes is streaming the album a week early — listen here. Take a listen to “Nervous Girls” below and tell us what you think of the emotional ballad in the comments below!
