Lupita Nyong’o Explains Her Surprising MET Ball Dress (VIDEO)
Lupita Nyong’o's 2014 MET Ball dress was not your average look. The 12 Years a Slave actress, who makes the best dressed list on the reg, switched it up a bit this time, donning a Prada ensemble that got everyone talking. What made her go for the bold look? She can explain!
"This is actually the first sketch that Prada showed us and we nixed it. And then they made it anyway," Lupita told photographer Nigel Barker on the red carpet. What made her come around to the look?
"When we saw it, we didn't understand it in the sketch, but it made so much sense when it was made." Seeing is believing when it comes to fashion, eh?
Although the look was busier than Lupita's usual event styles, she was obviously able to pull it off. This girl would look glamorous no matter what she wore! The brown slip dress featured an intricate beaded and feathered look on top, paired with matching green shoes, a green clutch bag, and a green head-piece.
And despite having a lot going on, apparently the outfit was easy to get into. "I call it the taxi dress after Charles James, who made dresses that women could slip in and out of," Lupita revealed. Did she actually toss it on during the ride over though? "I cheated a little," she joked.
