Maci Bookout Owes the IRS $78k in Back-Taxes — Report
Maci Bookout is in major hot water! This ginger bombshell might have it made as a reality star, but she's starting to feel the price of fame...and we mean that in the most literal way possible.
As we all know, Maci made a name for herself as one of the stars of MTV's Teen Mom, where she earned a decent salary for four seasons of hard work. That's the good news. The bad news is that In Touch Weekly is reporting that Maci owes back-taxes to the tune of $78,308. Yikes.
In Touch Weekly
In Touch obtained a copy of a tax lien issued against Maci, clearly stating that she owes the IRS major monies from 2011. So, how did Maci land in such hot water?
Turns out she worked as an independent contractor for MTV, which means taxes weren't taken out of her paycheck. Instead, Maci was responsible for paying her taxes to the IRS in one lump sum, and it looks like she failed to budget for the expense!
“She’s in denial,” a source tells In Touch. “She needs to find a way to pay back this money. She’s gotten herself into a lot of trouble.”
Unfortunately, Maci is currently unemployed, and her only source of income comes from hyping companies on social media. However, it looks like Maci has a plan. “She been telling people that she’s working on paying it back, but very little progress has been made,” another source tells the publication.
This is definitely concerning news, but rumor has it that Maci will be starring in a re-boot of Teen Mom (alongside Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell). If this ends up being true, she'll presumably be able to save enough money to pay off the IRS — fingers crossed!
