They say all good things come to those who wait, but Mackenzie Douthit and her husband Josh McKee just got something fantastic three weeks early: their new baby girl! That’s right, the Teen Mom 3 star just gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Jaxie Taylor, at 12:43 p.m. ET on Friday, February 7.
“I am so thankful for a healthy baby girl,” Mackenzie tells In Touch. “Many friends and family were praying, and everything went great!” This was a big concern for the young couple, as doctors warned the reality star against having a second child, fearing that her Type 1 Diabetes could cause her to slip into a coma while she was in labor.
But, luckily, all turned out just fine for the 19-year-old mama, who delivered her healthy newborn at 8 lbs., 9 oz., and 19 inches long via C-section. And mom is doing just great, as well. “My blood sugar and the baby’s were fine during the delivery,” she shares.
As for the name, they chose Jaxie as a tribute to Mackenzie’s grandfather Jack, and Taylor will be the shared middle name between mother and daughter. So presh!
We’re guessing that Jaxie’s older brother, Gannon, 2, will be excited to have a new sibling to play with! There was a chance that Mackenzie wouldn’t have another child, but she was intent on having another baby to join her son. And according to the Teen Mom, Jaxie is responsible for saving her relationship with Josh, 20, whom she married in August 2013.
“Jaxie saved my marriage with Josh and kept our love alive,” she shares, adding, “She is a beautiful miracle from God. I feel very blessed.”
Congratulations to the growing family! You truly are #blessed.
