Madonna Banned From Movie Theater Chain For Doing THIS During a Film
Apparently, Madonna needs to learn to hang up her phone during the movies.
The "Hung Up" singer is being blasted in the media after she was reportedly seen texting continuously throughout the premiere of 12 Years a Slave at the New York Film Festival on October 8, according to E! News.
Film critic Charles Taylor was sitting behind Madonna while watching the Oscar-buzzed — and Brad Pitt-produced — film and says she "wouldn't stop texting on her Blackberry throughout the first half of the movie." We're not sure what's more shocking: That Madonna was texting, or that she still uses a Blackberry.
Charles adds that "a woman next to me tapped [Madonna] on the shoulder and told her to put her phone away, and [Madonna] hissed back, 'It's for business... ENSLAVER!'" Whoa.
Now, the head of movie chain Alamo Drafthouse has said that she is banned from attending films at their theaters until she apologizes.
"Until she apologizes to movie fans, Madonna is banned from watching movies @drafthouse," the chain's head tweeted on October 11. "Madonna, however entitled she feels she is, is unbearably rude to others around her by texting in a theater."
Drafthouse is a small boutique chain of theaters that is known not only for offering fancy food and beer at its showings but also for its strict "No Talking or Texting" policy. So it's no surprise that the Madonna incident would become a cause célèbre for the company.
So will Madonna apologize? It would be, it would be so nice if she did.
