Cue Vitamin C’s “Graduation (Friends Forever)” song because Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes, is about to graduate high school! That’s right; the Material Girl herself is about to don a cap and gown, but before she receives her diploma, she took to her clothing brand’s website, Material World, to reflect on her high school days.
And by reflecting, we mean Lourdes (aka Lola) is “looking back on unfortunate outfits I wore confidently to school.” Because how else would you reflect on your high school years?
“Oh how I wish I could go back in time and urge my 14 year old self NOT to wear black rhinestone studded t-shirts with bloody skulls on them, purchased from really 'hip' stores,” Lola writes. “I like to reassure myself though, that I had to go through that awkward time of 'trying stuff out' to figure out what I liked wearing best.”
The 17-year-old continues by saying, “Despite my unfortunate fashion choices I definitely don’t look back on high school with any bitterness.” Lola attended an arts school where she says produced “high quality shows and actually teaches you the craft of what you’re studying.”
So, what is this girl going to miss about high school? “Of course I’ll miss the friends that I’ve made and the family that makes up the drama department,” she admits. “It’s really beautiful to be able to see all of the people I dearly love and care for, people that I grew up with for four years, go on and pursue their passions, whatever they may be, and find their place.”
While Lola hasn’t publicly announced where she’ll be attended college, it’s pretty obvious that she’s both excited and nervous about her next big chapter. But first? This girl wants to relax and enjoy her summer chilling on the beach with her friends, just like every high school graduate.
Congratulations on graduating, Lourdes!
