Madonna Uses N-Word in Photo Caption of Her Son, Responds to Outrage
Madonna opted for a poor choice of words to express herself recently on Instagram. The pop star is currently under fire for using the N-word in a caption of a photo of her son — and now she is responding to the backlash.
This week, Madonna posted a photo (at right) of her 13-year-old son Rocco boxing. "No one messes with Dirty Soap!" she captions the pic. "Mama said knock you out! #disn—a"
In case you didn't catch that hashtag, Madonna inexplicably used the N-word about her son, which created quite an uproar. She later deleted the photo.
Now, Madonna has apologized for the caption. "I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N-word on Instagram," Madonna says in a statement. "It was not meant as a racial slur... I am not a racist."
"There's no way to defend the use of the word," she continues. "It was all about intention... It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it's a provocative word, and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me."
Madonna is not the first celeb to cause controversy after using the N-word lately. As you may recall, TV chef Paula Deen was fired from the Food Network last year after admitting to using the slur.
