On Game of Thrones, Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) hasn’t much cared for any of the royalty she’s met. She lamented missing out on killing King Joffrey, Queen Cersei remains squarely on her hit list, and we’re sure she’s not too fond of King Tommen, either. But how does Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya, feel about royalty IRL?
Maisie recently had the opportunity to meet Queen Elizabeth II, and she had a much different reaction to blue blood than Arya.
“So she came over and I was like, ‘Good morning, Your Majesty, and I did my little curtsey,’” Maisie excitedly tells Access Hollywood. “And then she was like, ‘What do you do?’ And I was like, ‘You’re not supposed to talk to me!’ I didn’t actually say that, but in my head I was like, ‘Why are you talking to me? You’re supposed to move on to someone else!’ And she was like, ‘What do you do?’ And I said, ‘Oh, I’m in the show, I act,’ and she said, ‘Do you enjoy it?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I guess so,’ and she like, looked over at the throne and goes, ‘Doesn’t look very comfortable.’ And I was like, ‘You know what, no, you’re right, it doesn’t look very comfortable.’”
So what we can take away from this encounter, other than the fact that Maisie really loves the word “like,” is that Maisie is not nearly as cynical as Arya... which is good!
