Major Game of Thrones Spoilers: Which Characters Are Confirmed For Season 3?

Now that the highly-anticipated Blackwater battle has aired on Game of Thrones (Season 2, Episode 9: "Blackwater"), many of the book readers have started predicting how Season 3 will play out. Whereas non-book readers are saying, “But there’s still the Finale (Season 2, Episode 10: "Valar Morghulis")!”

However, experts and Song of Ice and Fire neophytes alike will take pleasure in this Entertainment Weekly article that details which characters are definitely going to appear in Season 3.

Executive producer David Benioff tells EW that those on the list below are confirmed for the epic TV series’ third season, which will cover the first half of Martin’s third book, A Storm of Swords.

The Wall
-Mance Rayder, the fabled King Beyond the Wall who was once a member of the Night’s Watch
-Tormund Giantsbane, a “Wildling raider”

Stannis’ Family
-Lady Selyse Florent, Stannis’ wife
-Shireen, Stannis’ daughter

Other Houses
-Jojen and Meera Reed, teenage brother and sister “with special insights”
-Edmure Tully, a “brash young member of the Tully family”
-Ser Brynden Tully, also known as The Blackfish and Catelyn Stark’s uncle
-Olenna Redwyne, also known as The Queen of Thorns, and Margaery Tyrell’s intelligent and “sharp-witted” grandmother

-Daario Naharis, a “confident and seductive warrior”
-Beric Dondarrion, a “skilled knight who is the leader of the outlaw group Brotherhood Without Banners”
-Thoros of Myr, a “red priest who follows the same religion as Melisandre”

EW also points out that the new characters are not limited to this list. David added, “And a few others … holy hell that’s a lot of new faces.” Let the anticipation begin!
