Maksim Chmerkovskiy may be in a shiny, happy mood on Dancing With the Stars Season 18, but he's still Maks — and Maks is never shy with his opinions or dry humor.
Maks is thrilled to be paired with ice dancer Meryl Davis, admitting that he usually has partnerships with some kind of drama but there's been none of that with the Olympian. So you can imagine he's not happy to give her up, even for a week.
“I hate the Switch Up idea,” Maks told reporters (via OK! Magazine) after the Week 2 show. “I don’t want to dance with anybody else. I might start crying and throw a fit. But, yeah, we’ll sabotage the show somehow. I’ll think of something. I’m not letting her go."
Maks' fits are the best! Remember when he jumped up and down in a mini tantrum with Erin Andrews on Season 10? They should re-run that footage, just for fun.
It sounds like he's teasing about the tears and sabotage, but whoever he gets as his replacement partner has to know, going in, that he'd much rather be with Meryl. Granted, every pro wants to stick with the celeb he or she has been teaching for weeks, but Maks has been vocal about how different Meryl is from everyone else.
"Meryl is enjoying herself more and more," Maks said. "I’ve never had a partnership like this. There’s always some kind of tears. These couples are amazing. Week 2, the show is very difficult. It gets to you. So far it seems like we’ve encountered everything there is and she’s okay. This is a first for me so I’m happy.” No offense, all other partners!
Switch Up voting is now happening and will continue until March 31, with the new partnerships dancing on Monday, April 7. We're guessing the celebs will elect to return to their original partners but it's going to be tough for both sides of the routines to adjust to someone new in such a short period of time.
Who should Maks get as his new partner? Maybe NeNe Leakes because she's tallest — and just as sassy as Maks?
DWTS Season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
