Maksim Chmerkovskiy Had to Take Son Shai to the ER, Plans to Adopt in the Future
"We've gone through a lot of stuff with him already — some drama and traumatic experiences," he told ABC News.
Baby Shai apparently got a very high fever when he was just a few weeks old, which was obviously very scary for the new parents.
"We were so like not prepared for the protocol [and] procedure that happened at the emergency rooms with infants that small," he continued.
"Nobody really ever told us anything about that. It was a big shock to the mind and to the heart. You start to see a little IV on a little baby and you're like, 'Oh my God, this is crazy.’”
Thankfully their little guy is doing well nowadays and the proud parents are hoping to expand their brood ASAP.
"F—k yeah. Yes, I would like to have as many kids as Peta decides to pop out," he told E! News.
“I think we're going to have as many kids as we can ourselves and just adopt a couple of kids. I just want a big family."
In fact, the Dancing With the Stars pro credits his son for changing his perspective on life.
"I feel like the best part of having a child is you get to influence a brand-new human,” he revealed.
“If you're going to complain about some of the things happening in the world nowadays, you need to look at the generation that you are raising and say okay, the best way to change or to alter or to upgrade this world is to instill things in your children that you want them to have as adults and push that out."
We can’t wait for Maks and Peta to have more kids, but for now they’re focused on Season 24 of DWTS!
Dancing With the Stars returns Monday, March 20, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
