Mama Joyce on Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker: “If It Lasts I Will Be the First to Apologize”

We’ve got to give Kandi Burruss props for staying so devoted to fiance Todd Tucker, despite Mama Joyce’s continued opposition to their relationship. Kandi’s mother is no typical meddlesome mom — she took things to the next level when she (unsuccessfully) tried to set Todd up to be caught in the act with another woman. But now, Joyce is changing her tune… well, sort of.

Kandi covers the new issue of JET Magazine, where she discusses her romance with Todd, as well as her thriving businesses. And, doing their due diligence, the publication also brings up the Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s tense situation between her mother and longtime love.

Still seemingly taking everything in stride, Kandi explains that there’s a reason her mother is so tough on her fiance — though it’s not necessarily an applicable one.

"When my mother was younger it was all about getting a man to be a provider. She leans toward a man who is financially more well-off than the dude who is just a good guy," the Grammy-winner states, before adding, “I've dated guys who are more successful than me, and my mom is like, no matter what he does wrong, you have to work it out."

The pub also caught up with Mama Joyce herself, who says she still has her doubts, but will — get this — be willing to admit she was wrong if things do work out between the couple.

“I pray that I am wrong. If they are married and it lasts I will be the first to apologize,” she says.

Well, that’s a start! Now, let’s hope Joyce at least gives Kandi the opportunity to make her own decision and see the relationship through. You’ll never know either way, unless you try!

Do you think Mama Joyce will be eating her words in a few years? Tell us in the comments below.
