Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Marcia Gay Harden to Play Christian’s Mom

Who could give birth to and raise someone as hugely-successful and sexually-aggressive as Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian? Apparently, someone a lot like Marcia Gay Harden.

The 54-year-old Oscar winner has just been cast as Christian's mother in the cinematic adaptation of the hit erotic novel, as Deadline reports

Marcia took home Oscar gold in 2000 for her role in Pollock but is also known for her roles in The First Wives Club, Flubber, Mystic River, and Into the Wild. On TV, She currently stars on ABC's comedy Trophy Wife and recently filmed a 6-episode arc on The Newsroom.

Spoiler alert! If you've read the first installment in E.L. James's steamy trilogy, you know that Marcia is gonna have some juicy scenes. For one, Christian's mom walks in on he and Ana post-coitus and realizes that he is actually straight. Later, Christian reveals to Ana that he slept with one of his mother's friends. Scandalous!

So far, the cast is as follows: Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time) as Christian, Dakota Johnson (Ben & Kate) as Ana, Eloise Mumford as Ana's roomie Kate, Victor Rasuk (How to Make It in America) as her classmate and potential suitor, pop star Rita Ora as Christian's sister, Max Martini (Revenge) as Christian's bodyguard, Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) as Ana's mom, Dylan Neal (Blood Ties) as Ana's stepfather, and now Marcia Gay Harden as Christian's mama!

Sounds like a pretty hot cast to us!
