British Show Slammed For Asking Mariah Carey About Las Vegas Shooting on Live TV

A British talk show is being slammed for interviewing Mariah Carey just moments after news broke of the fatal Las Vegas shooting over the weekend.

The pop star was live on Good Morning Britain shortly after the devastating tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival that left 58 people dead and more than 500 injured.

Host Piers Morgan was speaking with the singer, who is currently promoting her Christmas concerts, when they took a break to sort out the details of the shooting that occurred during Jason Aldean’s performance.

The 47-year-old was sprawled out on her couch in front of a Christmas tree in her Los Angeles home when Piers and co-host Susanna Reid asked the diva about the massacre.

"I pray for the victims and hope all these can stop as soon as possible," she said.

"You know, I have spent a lot of time in Vegas and this type of thing anywhere happening anywhere is a huge tragedy."

She continued, "It's terrible because people just going out to listen to music, really they're out for the night and something like this happens, it's shocking."

Once off the air, the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” songstress sent out an emotional tweet to her followers.

"Horrified to hear about the shooting in #LasVegas. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. Praying for everyone's safety."

People on social media slammed both Piers and Susanna for asking the mother of two about the shooting while on air.

“Terrible events in Las Vegas. Let’s get the views of Mariah Carey in front of a Christmas tree! Irrelevant and inappropriate,” one user said.

“Mixing a pre-arranged interview w Mariah Carey (& Xmas tree?!) with awful news from Las Vegas. Surreal, unfair to her, poor journalism,” another said.

One more person tweeted, “Finding #gmb in bad taste this morning, breaking Vegas news to Mariah Carey looking for some sort of scoop or reaction.”

The former X-Factor judge responded to the criticism with his own tweet, saying, “We told Mariah's people before the interview.

"Her reaction seemed very relevant given she's a performer who often has residence in Vegas."

Police identified the shooter as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
