Watch Marrialle Sellars Sing “Grenade” in the American Idol 2014 Premiere (VIDEO)

It’s been a long, hard hiatus since Candice Glover was crowned the winner of American Idol Season 12. Thankfully, our favorite music competition returned tonight (January 15), and we met a whole new crop of hopefuls looking to become the country’s next big superstar!

Kicking off the latest tour of the United States, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and new judge Harry Connick Jr. headed for Austin, Texas, and Boston, Massachusetts. (Of course, Ryan Seacrest was also there to provide much-needed commentary.)

Though it actually isn’t in Austin or Boston where we meet the first contender of the night, Marrialle Sellars, she kicks us off with the intro to the show. Entering the audition room with a guitar in hand, Marialle blows the panel away with her soulful rendition of “Grenade” by Bruno Mars.

The judges certainly don’t hide how excited they are by the 17-year-old. “You are going to be a nightmare for the other contestants,” says Harry.

“Your voice had such a beautiful tone and presence to it,” adds J.Lo. “You really surprised me!”

Of course, Keith says it best when he rips a golden ticket into thirds. “This is a third of this ticket that I’d like to offer you.”

Not surprisingly, the other judges hand theirs over as well!

What do you think of Marialle’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
