It was an incredibly emotional weekend for NFL star Marquise Goodwin.

The San Francisco 49ers player scored a touchdown to help his team beat the New York Giants on Sunday, November 12, just hours after he and his wife lost their son due to complications with her pregnancy.

The athlete celebrated the touchdown by dropping to his knees and blowing a kiss to the sky.

The 26-year-old shared a video of the moment on his Instagram page.

Following the game, he also opened up about losing their son just hours before and even shared a heartbreaking photo of their little boy’s tiny hand.

“I just wanna thank those who’ve genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself throughout this pregnancy,” he wrote.

“Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am.”

Marquise and his wife, Morgan Goodwin, announced their pregnancy in September and revealed their baby was due in 2018.

“Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan,” he continued.

“The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”

Morgan also opened up about their devastating loss on Facebook.

“This whole week has taken an emotional toll on my husband and I, Struggling to keep our healthy baby safe in my womb. However, God had other plans for us,” she shared.

“Today, I had to deliver my precious baby boy early this morning due to preterm labor.

“Despite our loss, my hubby kept grinding, scored his son a touchdown & got our first “W” of the season. He had a wonderful game today.”

She continued, “'I️ appreciate everyone who kept us in their prayers and constantly checked in on us. This was truly and an amazing experience and it was also a tragic experience.

“But that’s okay because we won’t stop fighting and we won’t give up on what God has in store for us.”

What a heartbreaking story. Our thought and prayers are with Marquise, Morgan, and their friends and family.
