Orange Is The New Black’s Matt McGorry Cast in Shonda Rimes Helmed Pilot

Is C.O. John Bennett leaving The Litch? That’s what Orange Is The New Black fans are left wondering with the news that Matt McGorry, who portrays the hot prison guard, has been cast in a Shonda Rimes-led drama pilot entitled How To Get Away With Murder.

According to Deadline, the proposed new ABC series is a legal thriller centered on law students who become involved in a murder plot along with their criminal defense professor. Matt’s character is a law student named Asher, aka “Doucheface,” so we’re guessing he won’t be playing another sweetheart like Bennett.

Speaking of Bennett, if the pilot gets picked up for a new series, could this spell the end of his storyline on OITNB? So far, we do know that Matt will appear in the recently wrapped second season, but a substantial role in a major network drama would likely compromise his ability to film a third season of the Netflix series.

Based on the way things ended in Season 1, his character’s future at the prison was definitely in potential jeopardy. Though his co-worker Mendez (Pablo Schreiber) was framed up as the father of Daya’s (Dascha Polanco) baby, the truth has this nasty way of finding the light of day. Just ask Piper.

What do you think? Is Matt leaving OITNB, or will he find a way to keep both gigs?
