Jesse Tyler Ferguson got an early start in acting, joining the Albuquerque Children's Theater at age 8. Soon after graduating high school, Jesse moved to New York to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He began performing in Broadway and off-Broadway productions, including the Tony Award winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Jesse received rave reviews and was honored by The Hollywood Reporter as one of "10 to Watch" for his 2006 role on the CBS ensemble sitcom The Class. He also appeared in the TV shows Do Not Disturb and Ugly Betty, as well as the movies Untraceable and Griffin & Phoenix.
Thanks to his hilarious turn as Mitchell Pritchett on Modern Family, Jesse has been nominated for two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (in 2010 and 2011). Along with his Modern Family co-stars, he won a 2010 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
