Who Is Keoikantse “Keo” Motsepe? Meet New Dancing With the Stars Pro!

They said a pro shakeup might be coming to Dancing With the Stars Season 19 and they were correct!

The 12 competing dancers were just revealed August 13 on Good Morning America, and you may have noticed a few new names. Artem Chigvintsev was promoted from the pro troupe, so you may already know him, and So You Think You Can Dance alum Allison Holker has an Emmy nomination from dancing with Derek Hough on DWTS, so you may already know her.

But what about Keoikantse "Keo" Motsepe?

First of all, watch the video below, talking to Keo behind the scenes at Burn the Floor, to learn how to pronounce his full name. His accent is great — we could listen to him all day! (He’s not hard to look at, either.)

Keo was born in South Africa and, as his ABC bio reveals, he started dancing at age 5 after his best friend suggested they try it for fun. Well done, BFF! By age 7 Keo knew it was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

Keo has won every national title in South Africa. Yep, as his Burn the Floor bio shares, he’s the undefeated South African Latin American Champion in every age category for the last 8 years. He had his formal dance training in Latin American, Ballroom and Contemporary at Corenergy Dance Centre with Rafick Hoosain and Lorcia Cooper. He also performed on South African Idol.

In 2012, he made history as the first South African dancer to join the Burn the Floor World Tour. He became the male principle dancer in the cast, and was picked to perform as a soloist during the shows residency at the Shaftesbury Theatre on the West End. Earlier this year, his BTF bio continues, Keo toured with Burn the Floor as principal dancer on the Australian and Japan tours, he also performed on their weekly productions on the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Getaway. He also performed as pro guest on Strictly Come Dancing South Africa in 2013.

But not only is Keo new to DWTS, he appears to be new to social media. His Twitter account — @KeoDancer — still has that new car smell and his website is updated with his status as a DWTS Season 19 pro but doesn’t have much more to say.

Learn a lot more about Keo’s dance history in the video below. You can even see him give Cha-Cha lessons, which he should do again on DWTS. We’ll find out his — and the other pros’ — celeb partners when the star cast is revealed on Thursday, September 4. The season begins Monday, September 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Welcome to the fold, Keo!
