Meg Ryan to Star in and Produce New NBC Comedy

Meg Ryan has been lying low for the last decade, but the actress — once dubbed America's Sweetheart — is primed to woo us all over again with a new NBC comedy.

As The Hollywood Reporter states, Meg will star in and produce a half-hour, single-camera comedy from writer-director Marc Lawrence — the guy who penned and helmed Two Weeks Notice and Music and Lyrics. (He also wrote the Miss Congeniality movies.)

The 51-year-old will play a "sunny, devoted, and desperately non-confrontational single mom" who returns to her job as a brilliant editor at a New York publishing house only to find that her former intern is now her "neurotic" boss.

Moviegoers fell in love with Meg in movies like Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally, but her acting career has been dormant in recent years. (Her last notable role was in 2008's The Women, and her last blockbuster was 2001's Kate & Leopold.)

A recent People cover story touted that Meg's lower-profile was a conscious decision on the her part — she'd been enjoying a quiet family life in New York City with boyfriend John Mellencamp and 8-year-old daughter Daisy. (She has also has a 21-year-old son, Jack, from her marriage to Dennis Quaid.)

We're happy if she was happy in all of these intervening years, but we're not sorry that she's stepping back into the spotlight!

Are you excited about Meg's show? Are you struggling to remember who she is? Give us your take below.
