UPDATE (4/6/17 at 10:49 a.m. ET):

Mel B’s sister is making sure her voice is heard.

Though she has been estranged from the Spice Girls star, Danielle Brown is sticking up for her family following the singer’s allegations of abuse against her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte.

“8 years of abusive calls me and my mum have had stating we would never see Melanie again,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I am laughing and celebrating as you were wrong. You are a sorry excuse of a man!! To the left to the left, everything you own in the box to the left.”

Stephen denies the abuse allegations and claims the former couple were friends just weeks ago.

“I’m really, really — I’m really distraught in my brain how this is going to affect our children,” he told TMZ.

“And the depths that she’s gone to. That’s it. That’s it. I’m shocked at those allegations and that’s what it is.”

“We were friends two weeks ago and now all of a sudden the team gets around and now it’s got to be this?”

Original Story (4/5/17 at 9:44 a.m. ET):

Mel B. feared for her life while she was married to Stephen Belafonte.

In fact, the former Spice Girl begged her friends not to tell police about her estranged husband’s abuse because she was afraid he’d try and kill her.

Thankfully, the singer has been granted a restraining order against her ex-partner after she claimed in court documents he beat her, got their nanny pregnant, and forced her to have threesomes throughout their 10-year marriage.

"Some of the people who confronted her said they were going to call the cops and report him, but she became emotional and begged them to stand down, and not just because she was in fear for her life,” a source told TMZ.

“She believed anyone who blew the whistle on Belafonte would become his target."

However, despite the America’s Got Talent judge’s determination to keep her abusive relationship under wraps, her former X Factor boss, Simon Cowell, reportedly grew suspicious.

He even attempted to get in touch with a divorce lawyer after she tried to overdose on Aspirin due to stress before the show's live finale in 2014.

"Although no one was sure what was going on, Simon and the team at Syco really became concerned at The X Factor finale in 2014,” a source told The Sun.

"In the days afterwards, following her release from hospital, they tried to help her leave Belafonte. They introduced her to divorce lawyers to help her to go through with it."

At the time, she just wasn’t ready to pull the plug.

To make matters even worse, Stephen also supposedly tried to prevent the brunette beauty from seeing her father before his death.

In the court documents, Mel claimed he hid her passport when she was trying to fly from New York to England.

"I contacted [Stephen] in Los Angeles asking him to send my passport such that I could travel directly from New York to the UK to see my father,” she said in the documents.

“I told [Stephen] precisely where my passport was. [Stephen] claimed he couldn't find it, he claimed that it was nowhere in the house. I was forced to delay my travel to the UK. I had to return to Los Angeles to retrieve my passport,” she continued.

"I was forced to apply for an emergency passport to allow my travel to the UK."

Thankfully, Mel received the documents in time to return just days before her dad passed away.

The mother of three filed for divorce last month and said the abuse began within the first year of their marriage in 2007.
