Melissa Gorga Lashes Back at Reporters Claiming Her Book Promotes Marital Rape

Love Italian Style isn’t exactly The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s version of Fifty Shades of Grey, but the memoir does chronicle the sexy details of Melissa and Joe Gorga’s love life. But some reporters have pulled out certain lines calling them “marital rape.”

A Jezebel reporter found Melissa’s book to be disturbing saying, “It’s very clear that she’s married to a controlling asshole that barely views her as human, let alone equal.”

The section in question revolves around Melissa’s “advice” to men in the bedroom.

Jezebel pulled out a few lines that read:

Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken. But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says "no," turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated. Women don't realize how easy men are. Just give us what we want.

The site referenced the passage saying, “That is rape and it is insane that it got past a publisher.”

For her part, Melissa is outraged by the claims, saying she is in no way promoting marital “rape.”

“I’m so disgusted that a reporter has taken things completely out of context simply for shock value. #SAD,” she tweeted on Sept. 25. “If you’ve read my book, you know that I am promoting mutual love, respect, honesty, and loyalty. #TRUTH.”

Do you think Jezebel has a point or is the site completely taking Melissa’s thoughts out of context? Weigh in below!
