Little Women: Atlanta’s Melissa Hancock Charged With DUI in Fatal Car Crash
This little woman's got some big problems on her hands.
Melissa Hancock, former star of Little Women: Atlanta, has officially been arrested on DUI charges in a fatal car crash.
The pint-sized star was driving the wrong way on a one-way street that resulted in a head-on collision which killed a man hours later at the hospital, TMZ reports.
The victim has been identitied as 29-year-old Daniel Dill, a U.S Coast Guardsman, who at the time of the accident was on his way to pick up his wife and her friends after a girls' night out at a club.
New York Daily News reports Melissa told cops she consumed "two to four mixed drinks" an hour before the collision occured at 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Her blood alcohol content tested at 0.112 two hours after the crash.
Daniel was taken to the hospital with internal swelling, broken bones and a spinal cord injury, and died hours later when his family withdrew medical treatment given his dim prognosis.
The 25-year-old, who also has a marijuana conviction on her record, is reportedly being held without bail in a Virginia Beach jail, and her case is currently being investigated by the Commonwealth Attorney of Virginia.
She is currently charged with DUI maiming, according to The Virginia Pilot, but could face more serious charges of DUI manslaughter.
Melissa, who was featured on a few episodes of Season 2 of the Lifetime show, hasn't commented on the allegations, nor has Lifetime.
But her lawyer has released a statement.
“Everyone involved feels horrible about the tragic accident,” Stephen Pfeiffer said. “We are investigating the accident and the allegations against Miss Hancock.”
