Melissa McCarthy Reveals She’s a Size 14, Hates the Term “Plus-Size”
Melissa McCarthy is revealing a very private number.
The former Gilmore Girls actress recently opened up about her recent slim down, her fashion line, and her disdain for the term “plus-size.”
“My clothing line is going great, I find it wildly creative,” the Oscar-nominated actress told reporters about Melissa McCarthy Seven7, People writes. “I actually am a [size] 14.”
The 45-year-old called her fashion venture — which features summer sizes from 4 to 28 — “fantastically rewarding” and admitted she’s “loving every single minute” of the process.
“It’s something that I’ve dreamed of doing since I was probably in sixth grade,” she shared. “I started making clothing, my grandmother was a seamstress.”
Like model Ashley Graham, Melissa has beef with the term “plus-size” and wants the “obsession with categorizing” women to stop.
“Every time someone says, ‘You make a plus-size line,’ I just correct them: ‘I make clothes for women,’” she told E! News.
“Women are amazing together. Women are friends.” she said.
“Women are not really competing with each other. I think everyone wants to make it seem that way with who wore it better, whose butt is better, whose glasses are crazier,” the Boss star added. “I’ve never had any of those conversations in my life.”
