Vegas oddsmakers have read the tea leaves and they have a verdict for Dancing With the Stars Season 18: Meryl Davis will win.
Bovada gave the Olympic ice dancer the best odds to win, which has to sound good to Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his fans. Then again, maybe it’s not so good. When are these pre-season Vegas odds ever correct? They may even be a jinx.
Online betting site Bodog gave Elisabetta Canalis the best odds to win DWTS Season 13; VegasOddsOn gave William Levy and Jaleel White the best odds to win Season 14; Vegas Deluxe decided Apolo Ohno had best odds to win Season 15 All-Stars; Bovada gave Aly Raisman best odds to win Season 16; and Wynn Las Vegas said Corbin Bleu was the best bet to win Season 17, followed by Jack Osbourne. At least they were close that time!
For Season 18, Bovada currently has Meryl with 3/2 odds, closely followed by her ice dancing partner Charlie White, with 3/1 odds. After that, they go for the two heartthrobs with young, passionate fan bases, Cody Simpson and James Maslow.
Those aren't bad pre-season guesses — it’s not hard to imagine ice dancers might be really good ballroom dancers, and social media darling pop stars might be really popular with voters — but of course everything changes once we see the pairs in action. Who can dance well, who has a great partnership, who is just likable and worth voting for, etc.?
Check out Bovada's Season 18 list here. Do you agree with their odds? They also have Drew Carey and Diana Nyad tied at the bottom with 33/1 odds to win. Fair or foul?
DWTS Season 18 premieres Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
